About this site
Every week across the Archdiocese of Los Angeles there is a feast day Mass, a holy hour, a talk, a fiesta, a morning serving meals. The pastors, volunteers and religious who run them are already doing the work. The problem was that you had to already know about it.
This site fixes that. It gathers what parishes and communities publish and lists it plainly, and every listing links back to the people holding it. Nothing here is ours.
Who it is for
Anyone. New to Los Angeles. Back after years away. At the same parish for decades and never heard what the one down the street is doing. If you want people to pray with, learn with or work beside, start here.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me.”
Matthew 25:35, New American Bible, Revised Edition
How events get here
Several times a day, we check the public calendars of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Angelus News and the archdiocesan Young Adult Ministry office, read them as data, and sort each event by the words in it. No artificial intelligence runs this site. Parish calendars and weekly bulletins are being added next.
Anyone can send us an event, by pasting the announcement, a link or a flyer. A person reads every submission before it appears. If we get something wrong, please tell us and we will fix it.
Confession and adoration times for a growing number of parishes are in the Guide, each with the day we checked it with the parish. For a parish not there yet, masstimes.org is a good place to look, and the parish’s own website is the final word.
Where events are grouped
Los Angeles is too large to read as one list, so events are grouped by the five pastoral regions of the Archdiocese, under their everyday names:
- Central Los Angeles
- San Fernando Valley
- San Gabriel Valley
- South Bay and Long Beach
- Ventura and Santa Barbara
- Online
The kinds of events
- Pray: Mass, adoration, confession, rosary, retreats
- Learn: Talks, Bible study, classes, becoming Catholic
- Gather: Young adults, support groups, seniors, fiestas, dinners
- Serve: Volunteering, outreach, donation drives
- Music: Concerts, recitals, choirs
Who each event is for
Many events welcome everyone. When an event names a group, it is tagged so people can find their own:
- Youth (teens)
- College students
- Young adults (20s and 30s)
- Families and children
- Men
- Women
- Married and engaged couples
- Seniors
- New and returning Catholics
- Discerning a vocation
Getting it right
Details change, and parishes are the final word on their own events. Every listing links to its source so you can check before you drive. If a time is wrong, an event is cancelled, or a parish is missing, use the submit page.
The site is built to the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standard, with text contrast well above the required level, full keyboard operation, and no meaning carried by color alone. If anything here is hard to read or hard to use, please tell us. That is a fault worth fixing.
